Rachel Flanagan asked:

This is a brief anti aging skin care guide.  In this guide, it is my focus is to share with you some of the new must-have ingredients that are proven to be amazingly effective, natural, feel good, and are just pleasant to use.

Let me start by telling you anti aging skin care treatments do not have to include acidic compounds that burn off a layer of cells.  And for older faces, exfoliation and scrubbing compounds, as well as alpha and beta hydroxyl, are not even appropriate.

As a matter of fact, what your skin really needs are ingredients that facilitate the growth of new and healthy cells.  For your face and the outside of your body, you need nutrients, proteins, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.  Consequently, these same ingredients are also needed for cell regeneration on the inside of your body.

Without the right manufacturing processes, merely including any of these ingredients in an anti aging skin care treatment is not effective.  For example, adding any old variety of antioxidant is not enough.  The chosen antioxidant needs to be one that penetrates deeply in order to destroy the free radicals produced after exposure to sunlight and air pollution.

The manufacturing processes in many anti aging skin care treatments do not penetrate as deep as necessary.  Only nanobelle CoQ10, a type of antioxidant, has been clinically proven to penetrate deep down through the layers, neutralizing free radicals and allowing the skin’s healing process to begin.

As an added bonus, when CoQ10 and vitamin E are combined, the result is an emulsion that it so fine that it can be easily absorbed through the pores.  It’s great for your skin and it feels smooth and creamy.

Another powerful antioxidant ingredient is the extract from wakame; a type of Japanese sea kelp.  Wakame is a wonderful natural antioxidant that contains a number of vitamins and minerals.

Wakame is very special for this reason.  It prevents an enzyme destruction that decreases levels of hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is a protein that binds skin fibers together.  By preventing the destruction of this protein, levels steadily increase to those found in much younger faces.  I think I’m safe to say we all want younger faces, right?

Next, I want to talk about why collagen as an ingredient is not worthwhile.  Our faces are composed of collagen and elastin fibers held together by protein chains that act like glue.

The collagen used in commercial anti aging skin care treatments are derived from cow hide and can not be absorbed or used by the body.  It only works in injection form because it “fattens up” the lowest skin layer and stretches out the wrinkles.

Products that are effective as anti aging skin care treatments will include ingredients that encourage the production of new collagen and elastin fibers; while also allowing those proteins to remain active longer.  An excellent anti aging skin care treatment will include Cynergy TK.  Cynergy TK has been clinically proven to increase production of collagen, elastin, and new cells.

Finally, manuka honey, a unique type of honey produced in New Zealand, is another natural anti aging skin care ingredient that is especially important for its antibacterial properties.  Manuka honey does wonders for skin blemishes, acne, and eczema.  This can be very beneficial to men who shave or those with skin irritations.  Since manuka honey has antibiotic and antiseptic properties, it’s great at healing and moisturizing.

There you have it.  The newest and greatest ingredients for anti aging skin care treatments.  There is much more to learn, so always keep an eye open for the latest research.

Evelyn Louise asked:

A good skin care cream can help remove wrinkles, erase discolorations, and heal sun-damaged skin, contributing dramatically toward a more radiant, youthful complexion. But do you know what to look for in a skin care moisturizer cream?

In my fifteen years of studying natural treatments, I’ve sampled countless brands of cosmetics. Most of them, unfortunately, didn’t produce the results I’d hoped to achieve. Here, I’ll distill my years of trial and error into a simple list to guide you in your search for a high quality cream.

Top three tips on what to look for in a skin care moisturizer cream:

1) It should work well for all skin types.

This advice flies in the face of much of the product marketing we’ve seen. We’ve seen separate creams marketed for various types of skin: dry, oily, and “normal” (whatever that is). In truth, a high quality moisturizer, created from the best active ingredients, works well for all types.

I didn’t believe this until I experienced it for myself. I’ve always had dry skin, and would purchase moisturizers and lotions intended for my particular type. When I discovered a moisturizer cream touted as being suitable for all types, (and in any climate, too) I was skeptical.

But it worked. My complexion became brighter, clearer, and firmer than it’s been in many, many years. I attribute this to finally using a very high quality product.

2) It should include Babassu oil.

Babassu oil comes from the Babassu palm in Brazil. It’s been used as a moisturizer for centuries, and works well on either oily, or dry complexions. You’ll find this powerful natural ingredient listed on the labels of the better skin care cream products.

3) It should contain avocado oil.

Avocado oil, like Babassu, is another remarkable natural ingredient with a centuries-long history of usage. Loaded with vitamins and nutrients, avocado oil has well-documented soothing properties. As an added benefit, it’s quite high in sterolins, which have been clinically proven to erase age spots and soften and moisturize skin.

You probably won’t find avocado oil and Babassu mentioned on the ingredients label of your average skin care cream product–just like an ordinary moisturizer cream doesn’t work for a variety of types. Only a small number of cosmetic products offer these benefits. I discuss them in more detail on my web site.

Cynthia Rowland asked:

Staggering amounts of money are spent daily on cosmetics and skin care products that promise to lift, firm and tighten our faces. How many of us use a product for just a few weeks before purchasing yet another product? Do we jump from item to item because we really don’t see a visible improvement and we feel disappointed in the results?

The ads are so compelling and we want to believe that we can look younger and healthier just by topically applying the latest and greatest discovery. Maybe that will happen one day but for most of us, using certain skincare items and cosmetic aids has not been helpful in the long-term because Mother Nature continues to tromp across our faces causing us to look older.

When we look at our faces in a mirror, if we’re over 40, the aging we see isn’t usually about wrinkles. The aging we see is looseness in our skin; maybe we see tired, sagging eyelids developing or a deepening nose to mouth fold or line. Our jaw probably isn’t quite as distinguished as it was a few years back as it slides downward into the neck. Maybe this face is beginning to resemble your older relatives.

Is your face puffy and would you like to see it have more contours? No skin care or cosmetic product that can do that. Even dieting cannot produce the firm, toned, youthful face you remember in your 20’s; in fact, dieting alone may deplete the fat underneath the skin making you look older than your years.

There are several avenues to address a droopy face but only one solution.

Many men and women seek plastic surgery to help correct signs of aging. Facelifts, eye lifts, and brow lifts are prevalent but they are only a temporary solution. The risk involved to one’s health and bank account is dreadful. Infection, loss of sensation, slow healing time and unexpected outcomes are just a few potential complications one can experience from surgical procedures.

Another temporary avenue available is injected fillers that plump up the skin where there is creasing or a sunken appearance. Some injectables paralyze the muscles, relaxing the skin so wrinkles are less apparent. These expensive fillers are being injected at an alarming rate and the patients seeking treatments are younger than ever. Even though these fillers may temporarily ease the look of aging, the results will not last and will need to be repeated many, many times over a lifetime. These fillers only mask aging and the user will continue to experience sagging facial muscles.

So what is the secret to stop an aging face? It’s exercise – Facial Exercise. Just like the body responds to Pilates, weight training, sit ups, etc., your face will look younger and healthier with exercise.

Just any old exercise won’t do; isometric and resistance type exercises work for your face just like exercise works for the body. Facial muscles need exercise; the motions and movements we make daily aren’t considered exercise because there is no resistance. No matter if you’re singing, yawning or yelling; these movements aren’t sufficient to create a younger looking face. The reason is that facial muscles attach to bone on one end and the other end of the muscle weaves over and under other muscles. It is only when special anchoring techniques are applied that a contraction can be caused in the muscle or muscle group; this contracting motion then allows the muscles to become fuller, plumper and more youthfully positioned. This action lifts the face.

Imagine applying these techniques for a few weeks and looking 10-15 years younger without invasive or costly procedures. You create the look of a face lift and save a ton of money with no risk to your health or your savings. You can keep the aging process in abeyance, feel revitalized, and look healthier and younger just by exercising your face a few minutes each day.

Margaret Bell asked:

Anti aging skin care treatment is very popular right now.  It seems everyone is a skin care guide or has one you must faithfully use.  Here’s a shocking truth:  Most of what you hear is a lot of inaccurate statements or just a bunch of advertising hype.

Skin Care and the Sun

Of course, the sun can cause damage to your skin.

So can poison in your food.  Bacteria in your water. We don’t need some so called expert to tell us that.

What we need is the truth about what can we do to protect our skin from overexposure to the sun.  Is there a genuine anti aging skin care treatment that really works?

SPF Factor

Most of these skin care guides will tell you to use a sunscreen with no less than a SPF 15 factor.  What they don’t tell you is that SPF factor is possibly damaging to your body.  That you can protect your skin without using any SPF.  If you do choose to use an SPF factor, an SPF 15 is plenty.

UV Sun Ray Exposure

Skin cells quickly lose COQ10 when exposed to UV sun rays.  CoQ10 is a vitamin-like material that can be found everywhere in the body.  C0Q10 destroys what is called free radicals, therefore, it is an antioxidant.  The UV rays will cause an increase in the production of free radicals in the body.   Too many free radicals can cause a lot of damage to the cells, even skin cells. CoQ10 in an anti aging skin care treatment is thought to fight off these damaging free radicals.

Exfoliating – Microdermabrasion

These two methods remove skin- the outer layer.

So why are they promoted?  Here’s the truth: They shouldn’t be used.  Here’s why:  When you get older, your skin doesn’t get thicker but just the opposite it gets thinner.  Scraping off more skin from already thin skin is just unwise or maybe crazy. That is unless you like sore, red irritated skin.

A better way is to take a softer route.  When you use a hydrating mask it can have a nourishing effect on your face leaving it much smoother and a lot cleaner.  What it does is removes the dead cells not the live ones.  Any one that tells you to exfoliate, get up and leave.  They know nothing about anti aging skincare and zero about skin care guide.

Expensive Products – Not the Answer

You would think that if you paid a lot of money for something it should be the best and do the job better than cheaper priced skin care products.

Research has shown that many if not most of the top skin care products have very little active ingredients.  Don’t let price be your skin care guide.

Collagen- Consider the Source

Collagen, and very little at that, is a common ingredient many companies use.  It’s not expensive because it comes from sources like cow hide.  Also, collagen from sources like this simply doesn’t do any good.  It doesn’t work because it just won’t penetrate the skin like it must if it is too be effective.

The average skin care treatment by many companies is to use “purified water”, paraffin and some sort of fragrance.  This “treatment” will make your skin feel smoother and moister, but it will rob your skin of its natural oils and eventually it will feel drier than ever.  Feeling smoother is not the only result you want in an anti aging skin care treatment.

Some companies, and I found only one so far, that really want to bring to you a product that you can afford. One that has been researched enough to be effective.  This one company would rather spend its money on finding ingredients that benefit your skin instead of spending wildly on advertising.  Here’s one such example.

Functional Keratin

Sea Algae

CoQ10

Vitamin E

Functional keratin help promote an increase of collagen and elastin.  Also sea algae will nourish and support skin cell production along with elasticity.

CoQ10 and Vitamin E will repair damage caused by the sun.  A company who truly cares about your anti aging skin care will include these ingredients and assure you they are from a quality source.  Again I found only one such company.  Hopeful others will follow their example.

Frank Langella asked:

It’s really difficult to have a healthy, glowing skin. Consider for a moment the tough battle our poor skin faces. In today’s hectic lifestyles, no one has time for exercise or fresh air; fast food is the order of the day; hours are spent daily in commuting through heavily polluted areas. It seems it would take almost a miracle to have a healthy skin.

This can, however, be done by using a good skin care moisturizer cream. There are various types of creams available in the market, each targeted towards a different area:

a) There are day creams available which protect your skin against pollution and harsh UV rays of sun light. Sunscreens also fall in this category.

b) Anti aging skin creams are focused on removing wrinkles and fine lines from the skin, making it look younger and softer.

c) Another category of day creams focus on whitening your skin. These creams work typically by inhibiting melanin in our skin. Melanin is the substance which gives our skin its color. More melanin in the skin means a darker skin shade.

d) Night creams are good for replenishing the skin while you sleep. The skin loses its essential oils during the day, when it is exposed to the elements. Night creams restore the skin by penetrating the deep layers of the skin and nourishing it with natural oils.

e) Using a skin care moisturizer cream is most suited when you have a dry skin. These creams hydrate the skin and make it soft and supple again.

So, first identify which kind of cream your skin requires and then use an appropriate one.

The next step is to identify which skin care cream to actually use. There are hundreds of brands being promoted by big companies. Many of these products contain harmful chemicals. For example, if you check the ingredients, you can find sodium methylparaben in some of these big name creams. Sodium methylparaben is actually a preservative and may cause harmful side effects. It has been banned for cosmetic use in the European Union.

The companies also add fragrances in these products to make them more appealing to the senses. However, these fragrances are also chemicals which may cause skin irritation on prolonged usage. As a consumer, you should appreciate the fact that the purpose of a skin care cream is not to have fragrance or smell good – it’s purpose is to nourish the skin; and this should be done in as natural a way as possible.

In natural skin care products you can find Phytessence Wakame. This is a secret Japanese skin care ingredient. It is rich in vitamins and minerals and nourishes the skin effectively. Other ingredients include plant based oils like macadamia and avocado. Babassu oil is also used in these products for treating dry skin. This oil is extracted from the Babassu palm, found in the Amazon region of Brazil.

Skin care is really not that hard. Just do a little research and find out a good skin care cream. That’s it!

With so many products to choose from today, it’s hard to decide what the best anti aging face cream is. But everyone’s face is different and one product won’t suit everybody, so there is actually no correct answer. However, good products will have certain features in common.

We know that sunlight does damage to the skin and causes wrinkles as well as other signs of aging. Your face is consistently exposed to more sunlight than any other part of your body, and this is why some moisturizing facial creams now contain sun protection ingredients. When searching for the best consumer anti aging face care, look for products that protect your skin from the sun.

Other than sun protection, the best anti aging face cream will be what is sometimes called a “cosmeceutical”, a cosmetic product that does more than just make your skin look younger; it actually induces healing or other changes in the skin cells. According to Dr. Oz, a good facelift cream should have anti oxidants as well as essential minerals.

The product that will be the best anti aging face cream for you will depend on your specific needs. Read labels and instructions to determine what products are supposed to do, and if you still unsure which is the best consumer anti aging face care product for you, consult a skin care professional for advice.

It’s never too late to enjoy looking young. Even if you didn’t start a skin regimen in your twenties, thirties, or even forties, you can still proactively treat your skin to mask the signs of aging. Even though we can’t stop the hands on the clock, we can still enjoy looking younger with the assistance of an anti-aging cream supplier.

Sherri Stockman asked:

This little anti aging skin care guide focuses on natural compounds that are good for your skin’s health and that of the rest of your body, as well. If you are looking for another type of anti aging skin care treatment, such as Botox or collagen injections, I would not personally recommend them.

There are numerous drawbacks and side effects that accompany Botox. It is, after all, the most toxic naturally occurring substance known to man. It lessens the appearance of wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles. The affects are only temporary, which may be a good thing, because many people don’t look that great afterwards.

Collagen injections only work by “fattening up” the deepest of the skin’s layers and “stretching” out the wrinkles. Many people have allergic reactions and, once again, results are only temporary. But, the choice is yours. This anti aging skin care guide covers safer options.

We have wrinkles and fine lines because of free radical damage that occurs throughout our lives. Early on, collagen and elastin production, as well as cell reproduction, keeps up with the damage. But, as we get older, we need effective anti aging skin care treatment or our bodies cannot repair the damage done.

Any anti aging skin care guide will tell you that the sun causes most of the damage, but they often don’t tell you how that works. It has to do with a process that occurs on the molecular level and involves electron movement. It is commonly referred to as free radical damage.

Antioxidants prevent and repair free radical damage because they are able to transfer the electrons back to where they belong. So, effective anti aging skin care treatment should contain antioxidants that can assist in the repair and prevention of this kind of damage.

An anti aging skin care guide may also tell you this fact; if we can increase the body’s production of skin-cells, collagen and elastin production can also be increased. But most times they skip that, thinking that you might not understand.

The question that has faced researchers and skincare specialists is how best to increase the production, without doing any kind of damage. The answer is protein. An effective anti aging skin care treatment should increase the skin’s levels of necessary proteins, like keratin and hyaluronic acid.

The body needs protein to reproduce cells and tissue, everywhere. But, most of what we eat goes to the support of critical organs, such as the heart and lungs. The skin’s cells often do not get what they need, especially as we get older, since all of the body’s processes are less efficient. You can see that my anti aging skin care guide is quite different from the norm, because, to me, it’s all about health.

New research has made available anti aging skin care treatment that prevents and repairs free radical damage, while increasing the body’s production of new skin-cells and fibers. They have clinically proven results using things like sea-kelp, extracts from sheep’s wool, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, olive oil and jojoba wax. Those are some of the ingredients to look for.

I know that this is by no means a complete anti aging skin care guide, but hopefully it gave you a place to start.

Rachel Hammond asked:

If you are a man, skin care may be an afterthought, something that you rarely consider, except when you are shaving.  I have some advice for you.  If you are a woman, shopping for male skin care products for that special someone, then I have some suggestions for you to consider.  Whoever you are, I believe that you will find the information in this article helpful and interesting.  After all, we are all concerned about our appearance.

Looking great for life is a lofty goal, that some might think is impossible.  But, all that you need to do is look around.  You’ll see people in their 50s and 60s that still look like they are in their 30s.  In some cases, they may have had some “work” done, but in many cases, good nutrition helped them out.

Whether you are a woman or a man skin care routines should protect and improve the skin’s health, not just its appearance.  There is a new line of female and male skin care products that contain the nutrients needed to do both.

The line was developed by a manufacturer that provides some of the best nutritional supplements in the world, at a more than reasonable price.  Their new line of skincare products was developed using the same philosophy that is behind their nutritional supplements.  Their goal is to provide the best value, by providing the best ingredients at the best possible price.

Their male skin care creams soothe the skin and reduce redness caused by inflammation.  They help reduce age spots, dark patches that often appear on your face, as a result of overexposure to the sun.  They reduce roughness caused by wind, shaving and other environmental factors.  They also repair damage caused by general neglect.

Unlike the “real” man skin care solutions that are so popular, these creams are unscented.  For the most part, synthetic chemicals are used to create those manly fragrances.  A little cologne is probably okay, but creams that you rub on your face and body should not contain synthetic chemicals.  They pass through the skin’s layers and build up in the organs of your body, causing a variety of age-related health problems.

Whenever you shop for female or male skin care products, you should look for those that are most natural.  It’s not only better for your health, it is better for the environment.  Most of the chemicals present in skincare items are derived from crude oil.  Many of them are not biodegradable.  They end up in the water supply, where they damage the fish and other wildlife.

The ingredients to look for in a “real” man skin care cream include Functional Keratin, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E and B5.  Those have been shown to reduce and delay the signs of age better than any other male skin care cream can.

Whether you are talking about a woman or a man, skin care is often neglected until you start to show your age.  Start early and you’ll look better for life!

sheena asked:

Experts used to think that growing wrinkles is a normal occurrence that comes with age. Although it is true, there are components that hasten the deterioration of your skin as well as those that slow it down. Anti aging skin care is as simple as being well informed about the things that lead to skin damage.

Firstly, before expounding on antioxidants, you should have a basic understanding of what free radicals are. They destroy healthy cells in your body by tearing through the cell membrane and damaging its structure and function. This can also lead to a process called oxidation. For anti aging skin care matters, oxidation is considered to be one of the main culprits. Although there are internal triggers that cause free radicals, there are also external triggers that are easier to deal with. Smoking, pollution, UV exposure, toxic chemicals and fatigue are examples of those external triggers. It is inevitable to be exposed to these triggers but knowing about them can help you avoid them and take apt precautionary measures for maximum anti aging skin care.

Moving on, antioxidants fight against free radicals. There are antioxidants that are naturally produced by our bodies but as we are exposed to those that trigger free radicals, we already need supplementation. Antioxidant levels also diminish as we age that we need more supplements as we get older. External antioxidants include vitamin A, C and E, minerals such as selenium and zinc, green tea and of course fruits and vegetables.

Having a healthy diet, with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, is one of the ways to fight free radicals. There are also antioxidant dietary supplements that you can ask your doctor about. And lastly, there are skin care products which contain ingredients with antioxidant properties which is best for anti aging skin care.

Even though a lot of people know about the skin damage the sun can bring, there are still those that take it lightly. People should avoid being exposed to the sun, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., because these are the high intensity hours. As it is inevitable to be exposed to the sun even when you are indoors, it is best to cover up with protective clothing. Wearing long sleeves, hats, sunglasses and etc can be beneficial. On top of all those, you should use sunscreen. Apply sunscreen to the select areas of your skin that are likely more exposed to the sun such as the face, arms, shoulders and upper chest. Ideally, you ll have to use one fourth of a 4 ounce bottle in one application.

Another main consideration when it comes to anti aging skin care tips is using moisturizers. They prevent and treat dry skin that leads to wrinkling. On top of those, moisturizers can also protect sensitive skin, improve your skin tone and improve your its texture. Choosing a good moisturizer entails knowing your skin type. There may be a need to try several brands before you can find the best one for you. Application of moisturizers should be done immediately after bathing. Putting on moisturizers after lightly patting your skin would make sure that you trap some water in the surface of your cells. There may be a need to put on moisturizers for several occasions, particularly every after cleansing time or if the weather is too cold.
